What is an Industry Sector Partnership?
An industry sector partnership involves businesses, from the same industry and in a shared labor market region, working with education, workforce development, economic development and community organizations to address workforce challenges and other competitiveness needs of the targeted industry.
Why is an Industry Sector Partnership necessary?
Industry is changing fast! Each day companies are faced with pressing questions and challenges related to market trends, technological advances, a skilled workforce, and more. Businesses, education, workforce, and economic development partners must work collectively to continue thriving.
Who is this initiative focused on?
Two industry sector partnerships have successfully launched in West Central Texas - manufacturing and healthcare. Businesses in these two industries face shared workforce challenges and have the greatest opportunity for growth and collaboration.
Where does the West Texas Energy Consortium fit in this?
The Consortium is a lead facilitator in partnership with the Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board. The partnerships themselves are industry-driven with individuals from participating companies who act as "champions" to mobilize around shared challenges identified by the group. The vitality of the healthcare and manufacturing sectors is crucial to sustainable development in our local communities. These two sectors also directly impact, and are impacted by, the energy industry and are closely aligned with WTxEC's STEM engagement initiatives.
